The GST/HST Collected card on your dashboard shows how much GST or HST you have collected on invoices paid this calendar month. Use it as a quick check between filings, and use an invoice export when you prepare your return.
Where to find it
The GST/HST Collected card is in the row of metric cards on your dashboard, below the Outstanding invoices panel. Hover over its information icon to see a short description. Click the card to open your list of paid invoices.
What is counted
The card adds up the GST or HST amount on invoices that:
- have a status of Paid, and
- became fully paid during the current calendar month.
It does not matter when the invoice was issued. An invoice issued in March and paid in April counts in April. Invoices marked as paid by hand count the same way as invoices paid through a payment option.
What is not counted
- Invoices that are Sent, Viewed or Overdue. You have billed the tax but not collected it yet.
- Invoices that are Partially Paid. The full GST or HST amount on an invoice counts in the month it becomes fully paid.
- Invoices that are Void.
- Invoices with no GST or HST.
- PST and QST. The card shows GST and HST only.
- Invoices paid in earlier months.
When the card resets
The card always covers the current calendar month. It resets to $0.00 at the start of each month. Months follow your organization's time zone (Mountain Time).
Getting figures for your GST/HST return
The card is a quick reference, not a tax report. When you prepare a GST/HST return, export your invoices and work from the file:
- Click Invoices in the top navigation.
- Click Export CSV.
- Choose Last 3 months, Last 12 months, YTD (Year-to-date) or Custom range. For a custom range, enter a Start date and End date.
- Click Export CSV.
The file includes one row per line item, with tax columns such as GST and PST amounts and rates, plus each invoice's total, amount paid, balance due and status.
Note. The export selects invoices by invoice date, while the dashboard card counts invoices by the date they were paid. The two totals can differ for the same month.
Tip. Confirm your figures against your accounting records or with your accountant before you file.
