Setting up your ATB Invoicing account

Setting up ATB Invoicing takes only a few minutes. This guide walks you through the initial setup flow to configure your business profile, customize your invoice branding, activate payment collection methods, and complete your account setup. All of these details can also be updated or customized later under Managing your organization settings.

1. Review and accept Terms & Conditions

When you sign into ATB Invoicing for the first time, you must accept the ATB Invoicing Terms and Conditions to access the application.

  • Scroll requirement: Scroll through to the end of the terms document to enable the acceptance checkbox.
  • Confirmation: Check I have read and agree to the ATB Invoicing Terms and Conditions, then click Accept and continue.

2. Confirm your business legal and operating names

ATB Invoicing pre-populates your registered business legal name on file with ATB Financial.

  • Confirm legal name: Verify that your Business legal name matches your legal registration.
  • Choose invoice display name:
    • Select Yes if you want your legal name printed at the top of your invoices.
    • Select No if you operate under a trade name or brand name. If selected, enter your preferred operating name on the following screen.
  • CRA compliance: To keep your documents CRA compliant, your registered legal business name will always be referenced on your invoices alongside your brand name.

3. Complete your business profile

Provide contact information and tax registration details that will appear on sent invoices and receipts.

  • Business email: Enter the email address where customer replies should be sent.
  • Business address: Verify your address details (street, city, province, postal code).
  • GST/HST number: Enter your 9-digit CRA business number and 4-digit RT location code. If you are not registered, check the I am exempt from GST/HST registration box.
  • ATB updates: Optionally check the box to receive product updates and offers from ATB.

4. Add your logo and brand colour

Customize the visual layout of your invoices to match your brand identity.

  • Brand color: Enter a hex code (e.g., #0072F0) to apply a brand accent colour to invoice headers and totals.
  • Upload logo: Click Upload to add your business logo (supports PNG, JPEG, or WebP files up to 5MB). Your logo will appear prominently at the top of all sent documents.

5. Configure payment methods

You must set up and save at least one payment method to complete onboarding and start sending invoices.

  • Interac e-Transfer:
    • Select an eligible ATB deposit account (e.g., Business Savings or Unlimited Business Banking).
    • Interac Money Requests will automatically show as sent from your business name, and accepted funds arrive in minutes.
  • EFT (Direct Deposit):
    • Select the ATB bank account where customers should send electronic deposits.
    • Your institution, transit, and account details will print on sent invoices so customers can transfer funds directly (settlement takes 3–5 business days).
  • Cheque:
    • Expand the Cheque section and add optional payment instructions (such as who cheques should be payable to and mailing details).
  • Cash:
    • Expand the Cash section to add optional payment instructions (such as in-person drop-off hours or location details).

6. Review your setup and finish onboarding

Before completing setup, ATB Invoicing presents a summary page to double-check your account configurations.

  • Review summary: Check your Business identity (legal name, display name, email, address, tax status), Branding, Payment methods, and Preferences.
  • Complete setup: Click Finish setup to confirm your details.
  • Next steps on "You're all set!":
    • Click the X icon in the top right corner of the success dialog to close the pop-up and go directly to your main ATB Invoicing Dashboard.
    • Click Create an Invoice to start drafting your first invoice immediately. If you have not created any customers yet, the app will prompt you to set up a customer profile first before building the invoice draft.
