ATB Invoicing automatically tracks payment timelines to help you manage outstanding receivables. This guide explains how overdue statuses are triggered, how they affect Interac e-Transfer payment links, and how to collect late payments.
1. Overdue status timeline and link expirations
When an invoice passes its due date, ATB Invoicing updates its status and adjusts active payment links to ensure security and account accuracy.
- When overdue triggers: An invoice automatically transitions to Overdue on the day immediately following its set expiry or due date.
- Interac e-Transfer link expiration: Once an invoice becomes overdue, any attached Interac e-Transfer link automatically expires to prevent stale payment requests from remaining active.
- Re-sending for payment: If a customer reaches out wanting to settle an overdue invoice, simply click Re-send on the invoice page. This generates a fresh Interac e-Transfer link that remains active for 7 days. It is up to your discretion as a business owner if you would like to add late payment penalties.
2. Managing uncollectible invoices after 90 days
For long-overdue accounts, ATB Invoicing provides options to help clean up your active dashboard balances.
- 90-day threshold: Once an invoice has been overdue for 90 days, ATB Invoicing gives you the option to mark the invoice as Uncollectible.
- Dashboard cleanup: Marking an invoice as uncollectible removes it from your active outstanding balances while keeping the record stored in your account history for tax and reporting purposes.
